We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef at our independent neighbourhood restaurant.

The Court House is a vibrant, neighbourhood restaurant serving fresh, seasonal dishes and wood-fired pizza. We are currently operating a take away service but hope to resume full time dining as soon as possible. Our previous hours were daily from 9am - 11pm, with last food orders at 9pm. Obviously, these times are now flexible and initially, the role will involve 20 hours per week until restrictions are lifted. This role gives you the chance to work with a great team, helping to deliver a fantastic experience to all our guests.

Your duties:

  • working alongside our Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities
  • overseeing staff
  • expediting service
  • aiding with menu preparation
  • ensuring food quality and freshness
  • monitoring ordering and stocking produce
  • providing a high level of quality and consistency
  • leading the kitchen team in chef's absence
  • providing guidance and training to junior kitchen staff members
  • ensuring prep is completed for following day service
  • monitoring stock rotation system to ensure quality assurance
  • training new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards
  • keeping detailed records to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
  • supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure standards are met
  • assisting Head Chef with menu creation
  • co-ordinating with front of house team to ensure the best customer experience

Your skills:

  • at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • extensive ingredient knowledge
  • strong organisational skills
  • attention to detail
  • good leadership skills
  • ability to work under pressure

Please note that there is no accommodation available with this role and that applicants should either live locally or have their own transport as there is little in the way of public transport to and from Kinross after 6pm. This will be a full time role working 5 days from 7 once COVID restrictions are lifted, but will be less hours initially.

This is initially a part-time role of 20 hours per week with a view to moving to full-time as restrictions are lifted. The rate of pay is £8.72 per hour to £11.00 per hour dependent on experience.
